The brief
The Love Bristol Gift Card is a gift card aimed at increasing spending in local businesses in Bristol, supported and commissioned by Bristol BID.
The brief was to create a design that stood out amongst the gift cards available from other cities, whilst highlighting Bristol landmarks.

Illustrating the vibrant city of Bristol
I wanted to achieve a design that didn’t fall into the usual cliches of Bristol (the suspension bridge), whilst they are iconic parts of the city landscape, the offering of the gift card doesn’t directly relate to these landmarks.
Instead I wanted to nod to the murals and street art that is iconic to Bristol by designing a brightly coloured, graphic design of the city.
Capturing Bristol at night
The following year, a night-time version of the card was commissioned, aimed at the thriving nightlife scene in Bristol.
The resulting design, inspired by the original, included more elements reflecting the night-time economy, such as the Hippodrome, a taproom and Watershed bars.
